Newly Elected Committee of Sylhet Press Club Takes Charge, Call for Journalists' Unity

The newly elected executive committee of Sylhet Press Club has officially taken charge. The new leaders took over from the outgoing committee in a simple ceremony organized at the club auditorium on Saturday (January 03) afternoon. The newly elected president and general secretary expressed their determination to make Sylhet's journalism world more dynamic and neutral. They said they would always strive to protect the rights of journalists.

 

 

Special Moments of Event

 

 

 

Senior journalists of Sylhet and representatives of civil society were present at the handover ceremony. The outgoing president highlighted the achievements and limitations of the last two years and assured all kinds of cooperation to the new committee. The new president said, "This press club belongs to all of us. Protecting the interests of all journalists irrespective of party affiliation will be our main goal." Then the new leaders were drenched in floral greetings.

 

 

 

Future Plans

 

 

 

The new committee announced several plans for the next two years. These include modernization of the club, formation of a welfare fund for journalists, and organizing regular training workshops. The general secretary said there is no alternative to skill enhancement to survive in the age of digital journalism. So they will put special emphasis on the professional development of members.

 

 

 

Call for Unity

 

 

 

The speakers called for unity among Sylhet journalists forgetting differences. They said various pressures and risks on journalists have increased in recent times. Everyone must stay under one umbrella to deal with this situation. The new committee started its journey with an oath to remain uncompromising in revealing the truth. They promised to perform professional duties maintaining good relations with the local administration.

 

 

 

Prayer Gathering

 

 

 

After taking charge, a special prayer was held seeking forgiveness for the souls of the deceased members of the club and the welfare of the country and the nation. Then sweets were distributed among those present. The newly elected joint secretary of the club conducted the program. A festive atmosphere prevailed in Sylhet's journalism arena today.
