Conflict Over School Tree Theft: 20 Injured in Bloody Clashes in Faridpur
A dispute over cutting trees at a government primary school in Saltha, Faridpur, escalated into a horrific conflict. In a bloody clash lasting about two and a half hours, at least 20 people were seriously injured, and 10 houses were vandalized. The clash occurred between supporters of Jalal Mollya and UP member Nannu Matubbar.
The Root CauseOn Saturday, Nannu Matubbar's supporters attempted to sell 8 mahogany trees from the school grounds. Police intervened and recovered the logs. However, during an investigation meeting on Sunday, heated arguments led to physical violence.
