At the end of the Bengali month of Poush, nature has assumed a severe form. Vast areas of the country have already become paralyzed by the bone-chilling cold. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, although January is typically the coldest month in Bangladesh, the intensity of the cold is being felt more acutely this year. Normal life has been significantly disrupted by fog and icy winds. However, the alarming news is that the country is set to face multiple cold waves within this month.

Cold Wave Grip on 7 DistrictsThe Meteorological Office has reported that a mild cold wave is already sweeping over seven districts of the country. Districts like Pabna, Sirajganj, Jashore, Kushtia, Comilla, Moulvibazar, and Sylhet are experiencing extreme cold intensity. There is a strong possibility that this situation will continue for some time. Coupled with this is the disruption caused by dense fog. From midnight to morning, and in some places until noon, the sun remains invisible. The dense fog has created risks of major disruptions in air travel, internal river transport, and road communication systems.

Severe Forecast: Temperature to Hit Rock BottomThe most concerning update has come from the Meteorological Department. Multiple severe cold waves may sweep over the country this month. According to meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick, temperatures will start dropping rapidly from the night of January 5. There is a risk of one to two severe cold waves this month, where the temperature could drop to 4 degrees Celsius. Experts are advising everyone to stay cautious from now on to cope with this bone-chilling winter.
