CEC Gives Positive Message on Election Environment Amidst Campaign Rush

The drums of the 13th National Parliament Election have begun to beat. At this auspicious moment, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin has shared words of optimism regarding the electoral environment. He made these remarks on Monday (January 5th) while inspecting the appeal booths set up at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, stating that the environment for the election is highly satisfactory so far.

Pledge for Fair Election with Spirit of CooperationCEC Nasir Uddin firmly stated that with the sincere cooperation of everyone, the upcoming election can be delivered as a free, fair, and democratic festival. His statement clearly emphasized the Commission's commitment to ensuring the transparency of the election. With this goal in mind, 10 systematic booths have been established at the Election Bhaban to handle appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.

Appeal Grand Event: Fate Decided in 10 Booths for 10 RegionsAs per the Election Commission's notification, the highly anticipated election and referendum will take place on February 12th. The final scrutiny process is currently underway before this date. Aggrieved parties can file appeals against the Returning Officer's decisions from January 5th until 5:00 PM on January 9th. Booths have been divided regionally for this process. For instance, complaints from the Khulna region will be heard at Booth No. 1, Rajshahi at Booth No. 2, Rangpur at Booth No. 3, and Dhaka region districts at Booth No. 7. Similarly, separate booths have been designated for the Chittagong, Cumilla, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Barisal, and Faridpur regions, ensuring candidates can present their claims without hindrance.

The Saga of Legal Battles and DeadlinesThe process of filing appeals is also quite strict and systematic. Aggrieved candidates or their representatives must submit applications in the prescribed format, along with a total of 7 copies (1 original and 6 photocopies). The EC's Director of Public Relations, Md. Ruhul Amin Mallick, informed that after hearing the appeals, all grievances will be settled between January 10th and 18th. The Commission has urged political parties and candidates to adhere to the code of conduct, confirming that the final list of candidates will be determined through this legal procedure.
