Declaration to Turn Grief into Strength on Khaleda Zia's Death, Order to Remove Banners within 3 Days
The BNP high command has called upon the party activists to turn their grief into strength following the death of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. This declaration was made at a press conference held at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Friday (January 02). At the same time, strict instructions were given to remove all types of banners, festoons, and posters of the party from all over the country within the next three days. This is being seen as part of party discipline.
Transforming Grief into Strength
The BNP Secretary General said at the press conference, "The death of the Deshnetri is an irreparable loss for us. But we will not break down. Upholding her ideals and sacrifices, we will turn this grief into strength and accelerate the movement to restore democracy." He instructed the activists to observe mourning in a disciplined manner with patience. They were also warned not to create any chaos out of emotion.
Ultimatum to Remove Banners
The party informed that within the next three days, all political banners and posters of BNP must be taken down from alleys across the country, including the capital. Only black banners expressing grief can be kept. It was warned that strict organizational action would be taken against the concerned leader if this instruction is violated. This decision is to keep the city clean and maintain the solemnity of mourning.
Message to Grassroots
Immediately after the central directive, messages were sent to district and upazila level leaders. Grassroots activists have been asked to keep a watchful eye so that they do not step into any kind of provocation. Senior leaders of the party will visit different districts to participate in condolence meetings and prayer gatherings and give directions to keep the morale of the workers high.
Future Political Programs
Leaders said that the party's next political program would be announced after the mourning period. For now, all political meetings and rallies have been suspended. However, BNP will remain vocal on public issues. The party spokesperson reiterated that they are committed to building the Bangladesh of Khaleda Zia's dreams.
