Grand Opening of Trade Fair, 'Paper and Packaging' Recognized as Product of the Year

The 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair officially kicked off today at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal. The Prime Minister inaugurated the fair in the morning by cutting the ribbon. 'Paper and Packaging Products' have been declared as the 'Product of the Year 2026' as the main attraction of this year's fair. The Prime Minister said this decision was taken to diversify exports and promote eco-friendly products.

 

 

New Potential in Export Growth

 

 

 

In the inaugural speech, the Prime Minister said that reducing dependence on readymade garments, we must look at other sectors. Bangladesh has immense potential in the paper and packaging industry, which can further strengthen our position in the global market. He called upon businessmen to improve the quality of this sector and comply with international compliance. He assured that the government would provide all kinds of policy support for the development of this industry.

 

 

 

Crowd of Visitors at Fair

 

 

 

Immediately after the inauguration, the fair premises were opened to general visitors. Being a holiday, crowds of people descended on the fair from the morning. Sellers have set up stalls with colorful products in hundreds of domestic and foreign stalls. Buyers were seen particularly interested in household products, textiles, and handicraft stalls. Special BRTC bus services have been arranged for commuting to the fair this year.

 

 

 

Security and Management

 

 

 

A multi-layered security ring comprising Police, RAB, and Ansar members has been created to ensure overall security of the fair premises. The entire area has been brought under CCTV surveillance. Besides, fire fighting systems and medical camps for emergency healthcare have been set up. Organizers said the scope of the fair has been increased compared to last time and special importance has been given to the comfort of visitors.

 

 

 

Symbol of Economic Progress

 

 

 

The Commerce Minister mentioned in his speech that this fair is not just a place for buying and selling products, but a symbol of Bangladesh's economic capability. This is a big platform to showcase domestic products to foreign buyers. This time businessmen from several countries including India, China, Turkey, and Iran are participating in the fair. He expressed hope that this month-long fair would inject new momentum into the country's economy.
